Fixing the "spiritual" breakfast

I have been reading a book (for a while now) called "Supermom Has Left The Building...Being a Proverbs 31 woman in the 21st century." Over the weekend, I reread one of the chapters titled "Supermoms Cook Breakfast" and as I read this the author, Judith Edwards, really put breakfast into perspective for me.

Growing up, I remember eating eggs and toast with orange juice every morning. I also remember the day that I felt freed from this and was able to choose cereal instead. As I "fix" breakfast for my children I often feel very guilty for pouring a bowl of cereal with milk. Or on occasion making "toaster waffles".

In the book, Mrs. Edwards wrote that the Proverbs 31 woman "rises while it is yet night and gets (spiritual) food for her household." (vs. 15) We all know that breakfast is suppose to be the meal that takes us through the day. So feeding our children with a spiritual breakfast could help them through what may come their way during the day. This morning I started it, I got up with the boys, as I usually do, but I sat with them at the table and read a devotion to them. And shared with them what I wanted to do to help them through their days. I explained that right now, school and friends may be just fine, but soon that will change and the peer pressure will be so hard that they will need to be "nourished" with God's promises.

I just hope that I can continue this every morning through their school years.

Tami, You are such a wonderful mom! I will say a prayer that you can continue to do, what God puts on your heart, for your family.
