Dear Rob,
I have to admit I have told some lies,
But they all were in good fun.
I know your job is full of stress,
So I wanted to go on a run.
I started planning months ago,
A trip for us to take.
It started with your birthday,
And a way to share some cake.
So...I called up some people,
To see what I could do.
And wouldn't you know your family said,
We are coming too!
So now this weekend will be spent,
With all your family in Somerset...
(Kentucky)
There it is...the poem that I gave to my husband on Friday evening as we were driving to the "mountains" of Tennessee to spend the holiday weekend with my sister and her family. We pulled it off, Rob was completely surprised and very excited about being able to see and spend time with his family. There were 16 of us total that stayed in a 4 bedroom house that slept 15 up on a hill over-looking (the would be) Lake Cumberland, KY. We had a wonderful weekend. We went to bed really late every night, played lots of poker, ate very well, played kickball and baseball at a park, saw a very old Civil War battlefield and others spent time at an old car show.
It was so relaxing to get out of town and into the country and rolling hills of Kentucky. Wow, what a beautiful creation! We took lots of pictures, but here is our farewell photo with us kids and grandkids.

I will be adding more memories from our trip, but I wanted those that read our blog that I did surprise him and he really had a great time.
So, today we celebrate his real 40th birthday, with baseball games, a late meeting at his work and no chance to see each other or the kids on this special day. I pray for the day that we will spend more time together and not be rushed or ruled by so many other distractions of this world.
