It happened! I left around 11 am on Saturday morning and returned to my departure spot around 11 am Sunday. I had a wonderful time with 7 other ladies and a very cozy cottage on a very calm lake in north-central South Carolina. For those of you who have never visited this area...there are some individuals that are very different!
After arriving at the cottage, we set off for the small town of Camden. I had heard a number of stories of this town, it really was a beautiful town that was similar to a smaller Goshen, IN. The downtown area had antique shops and coffee houses and some bars. We visited a unique deli/coffee shop for lunch. The inside was the original brick and it had a loft to it and the ceiling wasn't finished. I just love buildings like that. Anyways, as we were walking in, we were greeted by members of a jazz/blues band (at 1pm in the afternoon, in a coffee house?). I immediately noticed a woman with a hat on and commented about a Red Hat Society meeting. Little did I realize that this woman was on board with the South. As we were waiting for our sandwiches, she came swinging beside our table on her way to the restroom. She would take some steps, then double back and swing with the beats of the jazz music. Now, this was a strange sight, but that was nothing in comparison to what she was holding in her hand. So, please take a look at the picture...
Let me tell you, we laughed about this all night long. After we left the deli, we went down the street to a shop and some of us sat outside waiting and she came walking down the street bopping to the beep of someones car alarm going off. Either she was just in love with life or completely off her rocker. She ended her walk by asking a car pulled up by the sidewalk to give her a ride home. Man...she was funny!!
Well, I had a great weekend, I survived, Rob survived and the kids were all in one piece and happy to see me again.
That everyone, is the best feeling in the world...to know you are loved and missed!
